At Westbury-on-Severn we believe that every child should have every opportunity to flourish, and we aim to make sure pupils have the right learning conditions, opportunities and support for everyone to thrive. This might mean that there are times when some children need a bit of extra support. This could come in a variety of different forms; from additional support in the class, or bespoke interventions, to emotional literacy sessions or play or physical therapy.
This addition support to access the curriculum and progress in learning is known as Special Educational Needs.
Children who have an identified Special Educational Need will follow Gloucestershire's graduated pathway; to ensure their support is planned and reviewed regularly. This may be a My Plan, My Assessment and My Plan + or in some cases a request for an EHCP.
Please see the information below to find out what the graduated pathway looks like in our school, along with more information about additional support.
Mrs Roseblade is our school's SENDco. She has time out of the class on a Friday and Monday to oversee and support the SEN provision in school.
Mrs Noad is our ELSA in school. Three afternoons a week she is out of class to run our Emotional Literacy Support sessions and check ins.
Mr Harris is our SEND governor. He meets regularly with Mrs Roseblade to discuss SEND needs in school.
